My Cactuar got a new friend a few days ago...






A few of my friends saw the tattoo and went, "WHAT THE HELL, WHY did you tattoo a PIKACHU on your leg?!"

I honestly don't see what the big damn deal is. :P It's my damn tattoo, not theirs, I'm extremely happy with the way it came out, and it's not like I tattooed it on my forehead or something, you know? They keep saying, "We'll be making fun of you in ten years when you regret it."

And another friend goes, "Well, someone I know said that they figure you might as well tattoo whatever you want since we'll probably have the technology to remove it without massive scars by the time we're older"

Why would you go into a tattoo thinking that? I take time thinking over my tattoos, and make sure I'm absolutely in love with the idea before springing to do it. I don't want to go into something thinking, "Oh, well, I can just get it removed X years down the road..."

All of my tattoos have significance to me. My Cactuar is a representation of my love of Final Fantasy, as are my Yevon and Sin symbols from FFX. I have a Nine Inch Nails-related tattoo on my upper back (the design on the cover for the CD single "Sin"), and my Pikachu represents my love of Pokemon (I've been playing since Red and Blue, and now still am through Ruby and Sapphire).

Anyways, I dunno... Have you guys ever received crap for any of your tattoos?

Whenever I've defended my Pikachu, I'm always met with the response "Whatever, it's your body."

Well, it is. And I'm damn proud of every little bit of ink on my body.

Huzzah on getting a Pikachu tattoo! Forget yer friends...I absolutely adore it. That's a really well drawn Pikachu as well! I love the attention to detail/shading/etc...Honestly, I probably wouldn't mind having that tattoo myself.

With the starman tattoo I got, I was surprised to see how great yellow ink stands out. I understand people's concern about regretting tattoos. I've got a Thundercats one on my lower back that I got on impulse six years ago, and I'm now considering a cover-up. But if you're happy with it, you're happy with it. Ignore the haters and keep on your way. I'm not a pokemon sorta guy, but I think that for what it is, it looks fantastic.

Red and Blue came out almost ten years ago... so if you've been playing that long, I don't see why anyone would make fun of it. At least you got a tattoo of something you love.

Hey man, while I was a huge (yeah huge) anime fan/otaku I was never a fan of Pokemon. However, the other day I caught myself saying that I missed flipping by YTV (Canadian kids channel) and pausing for a few minutes to watch Pokemon.

Regardless...Pikachu was adorable.

Wow, the tattooist did a fabulous job, I've seen so many ugly official-looking pikachus, but yours is really well done AND adorable to boot :3

it is YOUR tattoo and you know it.

and it's done really well. so they should have zero complaints. it looks beautiful and the dark green below on the cactuar really makes the pikachu stand out.

my friend vowed once to make his first tattoo a giant Snorlax on his back. This was like, freshman year in highschool, since then he has decided a giant Snorlax wouldn't be the best idea in the world; but in order to remain true to his 15 year old self has kept the vow, but has no intention of getting a tattoo...ever.

Rock on Pokemon fans. Just don't go too crazy. We're all geeks here so we know what's it like to get those looks and comments about our tattoos or clothes or whatever. I have a batman and a star wars tattoo...a lot of people tell me those were a bad call but when you've loved something for so long what it actually is becomes less important. Instead of playing pokemon we could have been reading books with art by that one guy in them (you know the guy who does the birds and stuff that so many people have tattoos of?)and I bet we would all get less flak.

it makes me happy that you also have a cactuar tattoo. especially since i was thinking of getting a pokemon tattoo also once i decide what the hell i want.

no one ever really says anything negative about my cactuar. everyone who knows what it is kirks out over it. and everyone who doesn't asks if it's a skanking pickle or says it's adorable.

I think Pikachu is adorable! It does look fantastic, and I don't think you should regret it at all. =D I know what you mean though, when I got my tattoo the response was for the most part positive, with the exception of my best friend (who had known forever what I was going to get, as I planned it for a year) who said things like, "It looks like a germ! Why would you get that?"

Psh. The significance has always been lost on her.

That is an adorable Pikachu. The linework is great on it!

As for flak on tattoos... hell, I recall this very community giving me crap about my Tingle tattoo, hahaha.

F the haters, man...I love your attitude. I have 12 tattoos, and I get guff about them often. Mine all have deep meaning to me and bring me such joy when I look at them, that when people talk like that, I just smile and nod. F 'em all.

I'd really like to see your Yevon and Sin symbols...did you post them here ever? I'm new to the community, so if you did it a while back, I wouldn't have seen it.

I can relate to the whole people-telling-you-you'll-regret-it; hell I think most people on this community can. I got a Sonic icon a couple of months ago and lots of people at my work place told me to grow up, and I'd want rid of it eventually.
But y'know, I've been mildly obsessed with the blue blur for 14+ years, I don't care for their opinions as to what I should do with my body ^^ so go you for sticking to your guns.

Andfor the actual tat... heh, I wanna make like Jessie and James and steal the yellow furball XD that's excellent. Do I see a hint of shading on the tail and lower body too? That's just sweet. Here's hoping it stands the test of time and doesn't fade by the time you're 50.

Oh btw, Yes I have caught quite alot of shit for my Ravenclaw tattoo "WTF would you want a fuckin Harry Potter tattoo for???" The response it "STFU LOSER" But its because those books helped me escape the world during a really hard time in my life. It just shows everyone has there things ya know? Your tats are fantastic so dont let it get to you. <3
