| My second halfsleeve |
[24 Sep 2010|03:51am] |
I made the jump, started up my second halfsleeve. So in addition to the 14 some characters I have on my left arm, I now have another 9 characters (and space for two more) on my right arm. Large image inside a cut.
( I take my companion cube everywhereCollapse )
I'm using the Big Daddy to cover up my Calvin and Hobbes tattoo. It's my first cover up and I'm a little sad to see it go. Unfortunately, I didn't have the foresight for double video game halfsleeves 6 years ago.
So if you can't make them all out, I've got: -Blathers (Animal Crossing) -Max (Sam & Max) -Companion Cube (Portal) -Vivi (Final Fantasy IX) -Amaterasu (Okami) -Big Daddy (Bioshock) -Luma (Super Mario Galaxy) -Raz (Psychonauts) -Spiritomb (Pokemon)
Dotted inbetween the designs are Tetris blocks and Dr. Mario pills.

Hey guys!
I just recently re-joined LJ to help meet people interested in gaming. Looks like I have found the right crowd.
Before i show my tattoo, I would like to ask for anyone's help with something I am working on.
I am looking for a few people that are willing to share their story about why they got inked with the particular video game character or symbol they did. i am trying to write an article and would love to be able to use at least your first name and the story behind your favorite video game related tattoo. If you want to help me please contact me.
Now..... My Tattoo (sorry for the bad quality, i really should take a new one)

I've been wanting this one for years :) Finally got it done! It's still healing, so the colours might be a bit brighter once the scabbing goes away. Sorry for the bad iPhone pic...
inked by Arlin Ffrench in Vancouver BC.

| My Two Gaming Sleeves! Arm Work in Progress! Tons o' PICS! |
[04 Sep 2010|10:25pm] |
I'm back! I posted here in 2007 for my Gaming Tattoo Leg Sleeve (pics are now not visible anymore but here is Post 1 and Post 2). I began the Arm Sleeve back in April this year and it's almost done. First and foremost, you can see ALL of the pics of both sleeves at my website http://perfectcr.com/gamingtattoos. However, I'll post select pics below the cut. First the Leg Sleeve, then the Arm Sleeve. For the story behind each one, please see my posts at the Ars Technica Forums for the leg sleeve (thread now closed) and the arm sleeve (current, thread open).
When the arm sleeve is done, I am going to take all new pics of both sleeves and do them some justice, but for now you'll have to settle for my iPhone pics! :)
Quick info: My Leg sleeve was done back in 2007 in 6 sessions, totaling around 25 hours. My Arm sleeve has (so far) been 5 sessions for a total of 32 hours. There will at least be one more 8 hour session! My artist is working the sleeve around an existing FOX HOUND tattoo I had done back in 2008, and a (badly done) Mass Effect N7 that is about to be redone for the sleeve. Still to be done on the arm sleeve is Portal fill in, most stars/space fill in, Mass Effect N7 make over, and Mass Effect Renegade/Paragon symbols.
Below are a few teaser images! (taken with the iPhone camera app Hipstamatic, click to enlarge). Enjoy!

| Umbrella Logo |
[15 Aug 2010|08:15am] |
As a big Resident Evil fan, it seemed only natural that for my second tattoo/my first game-related tattoo I chose the iconic Umbrella Corp logo. I'd initially wanted to go with the more traditional design and had debated getting the S.T.A.R.S. logo, which I might still get in the future, but the Umbrella Chronicles variation of the familiar emblem seemed to best personify the survival horror series.
It was done by the amazing and hilarious Chris Babin of Subculturez Studios, whose Myspace will be linked within the cut, where you can view some of his other works. He did a phenomenal job and it's healed up beautifully. Mind you, the picture and video under the cut were taken fairly soon after the tattoo was done, so it'll likely look somewhat rough. My camera is not very impressive and it's a little hard to take pictures of your own shoulder. lol
So without further adieu...

| Vintage Lucasarts sleeve (wip) |
[21 Apr 2010|05:51pm] |
|
So, yeah, my girlfriend spotted this community and I just had to contribute. Been working on this since March '09, lots of work, lots of details and lots of pain in the ass for my artist! This has been planned, partly designed and organised by myself and Mr. Dorian Stocker of Sims Tattoos in South London, UK ( Lucasarts!Collapse )</p> Forgiveness for the "healing pics", they were all taken at various different stages of the sleeve too, hence why some bits dissapear as well. I will update in the coming months with more stuff :)

| Mega Man and Proto Man Pixel Art |
[18 Apr 2010|09:12am] |
I got Proto Man done two weeks ago and Mega Man done yesterday. Sorry for the bad angles and average shots. I dont think it shows well in these pictures, but he did an awesome job with the straight lines and colors. I am extremely happy with it.
It was done by Brian "Bullets" Holton at In The Blood Tattoo in Pittsburgh. Hope you enjoy!

| Geek Ink: Tattoos for the Nerdy and Geeky #2 |
[01 Mar 2010|06:48pm] |

"Not all tattoos have to be elaborate and expensive to convey deeper meaning. Also long as it means something to you, what other people think doesn’t matter, because its not for them, its for you and you alone. Years from now the image may distort from aging, but the meaning will remain the same, and that’s what tattoos are all about. A constant reminder something worth remembering, a permanent post it note." (Full Article)

"There is nothing more permanent or public like a Tattoo. In the movie Eastern Promises with Viggo Mortensen, one character explains that “Tattoos tell the story of your life.” People you’ve lost, places you’ve lived, things you’ve loved, obstacles you’ve over come. They are living, breathing art." http://www.nerdsociety.com/2010/02/23/geek-ink-tattoos-for-the-nerdy-and-geeky1/
Thank you to everybody that submitted, and for the ones I didn’t get to, don’t worry, I will post another article soon enough. Want to share your Geek Ink? Just send a picture of your tattoo with your info to mvillarreal@nerdsociety.com: Name or Alias: City, State: Tattoo Artist: Tattoo Shop: Favorite Movie: Favorite Game: Also give us a brief description about your tattoo and why you got your tattoo.
